Every Saturday morning, church volunteers, called the bread brigade, collect the left-over bakery items from the Anthem-Vons Store in our area. New Song also provides volunteer support for the graphic design and mail assembly of LSSNs quarterly newsletter, as well as on-site support and assistance with the food pantry. Each fall, we participate in the Adopt-A-Family program to provide Christmas gifts for families and seniors. One of our pastors, Pastor Marta Poling-Goldenne, serves as the president of the Board of Directors for this agency. We consider this agency our first and most important partner in our collaborative efforts to help low-income and impoverished residents of Clark County and beyond.
Since 1997, Lutheran Social Services of Nevada has cared for and served over 125,000 families in need by providing essential services in the form of emergency food, clothing, health, shelter and transitional housing, supportive housing services including financial assistance, case management, education programming and wrap around care. Robert Taylor School Needs Volunteers!
- Want to make a difference with your life? You can change the world one person at a time by volunteering with the children who attend the Robert Taylor Elementary School in Henderson. This public school works with an at-risk population of students who come from families living at or near the poverty line. But, being poor isnt an indicator of potential! Robert Taylor students are great; they will steal your heart! Principal Dr. Janet Dobry, a member of our sister church, Christ the Servant-Henderson, is seeking volunteers who are willing to give an hour or more a week to read with kids, listen to them read to you, or help them with math. Most of the volunteers come to the school once a week for one hour. Volunteers select the day, time and grade level. The school understands that volunteers take vacations and sometimes have other scheduling conflicts. Discover the joy that Jane Calderon, Jim Eral and Jim Wells have experienced in their lives as volunteers with Robert Taylor School students! To volunteer, contact Jessica Alanano at (702) 799-8950.
